NEW ENTERPRISE STONE & LIME is Hiring an Industrial Technician / Mechanic Near GATEWAY RMC | Lackawanna, NY

The Industrial Technician/Mechanic will oversee the electrical, mechanical, and automated systems maintenance at our ready mixed concrete plants in Buffalo, New York. The Industrial Technician/Mechanic will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient, safe, and continuous operation of our plant machinery and equipment.

Industrial Technician/Mechanic - What Will You Do?

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on all plant equipment, including electrical systems, mechanical components, automation technologies, instrumentation, and control equipment.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctions in machinery, control systems, electrical circuits, and other critical equipment, ensuring minimal downtime. This includes working with 800-amp service and 480/240/110-volt systems.
  • Implement and oversee automation systems, including programming, calibration, and maintenance of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA systems, and other control equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant machinery and automated systems, implementing preventive maintenance strategies to enhance equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Collaborate closely with plant management to schedule and execute maintenance activities, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
  • Install, commission, and calibrate new equipment, with a focus on integrating and optimizing automation and control systems for enhanced plant efficiency.
  • Maintain and update instrumentation devices, ensuring accurate measurement and control of plant processes.
  • Manage and update software associated with automated systems and control equipment, ensuring they are current and function optimally.
  • Train and guide other plant staff on the operation and maintenance of automation and control systems, enhancing team skill sets and operational knowledge.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations and best practices, especially when working with electrical, mechanical, and automated systems.
  • Maintain, service, and troubleshoot any and all electrical, PLC, and optical units.
  • Provide advice on electrical upgrades for plants and buildings and take projects from inception to completion.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, system updates, and the status of equipment, including documentation for automation and control systems.

Requirements - Who Are We Looking For?

  • A high school diploma or the equivalent plus completion of a certifying technical training program in electrical maintenance or completion of an electrician's apprenticeship is required. However, significant work experience in electrical maintenance beyond that required for the position may be substituted for the required education, technical training, or apprenticeship.
  • Electrical Maintenance: At least six years of progressively responsible experience in the electrical trade is required. Experience must include a thorough working knowledge of National Electrical Codes for installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Mechanical Maintenance: At least four years of progressively responsible experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipment.
  • Electrical Maintenance: The ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, and electrical schematics is required. Must be able to apply electrical formulas and conversion tables to job requirements. The ability to use electrical test equipment and small hand and power tools, such as wrenches, drills, soldering irons, volt-ohmmeters, amp meters, circuit testers, and vacuum and pressure gauges, is required. Computer literacy is required.
  • Mechanical Maintenance: The ability to repair and maintain equipment drive systems, conveyors, and weld.
  • Proven experience working on specific equipment such as conveyors, compressors, shakers/bag houses, boilers, and water heaters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work outside in an aerial lift at heights up to 60 feet.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet NESL’s driving standards.
